Flat Tops Scenic Byway

This remote Northwest Colorado trail connects Meeker with Yampa to the west. The 82-mile stretch is half smooth gravel and half dirt road. The road offers access to enjoy nature while biking, hiking, fishing, and hunting in the Flat Tops Wilderness Area. The byway is best to drive from June to October; it’s not plowed in winter. Gas up before you go, because there are no gas stations on the route.

Meeker Range Call Fourth of July Celebration

Celebrate Independence Day at the oldest annual rodeo in the state. Learn about the history of the area and the town’s namesake, Nathan Meeker, at the Meeker Massacre Re-Enactment.

Meeker Classic Sheepdog Championship Trials

Marvel at the coordination of dogs and their masters at the Meeker Classic. Every September, Meeker hosts a 5-day festival of sheepdog herding trials and finals. The festival also features local Meeker artisans and vendors, educational demonstrations and presentations, history, art, food, and culture.

White River Museum

Take a historical walk in the footsteps of the Ute Indians while learning more about Meeker and the White River Valley. The Rio Blanco County Historical Society is preserving the past with photos, military uniforms, personal belongings, furniture, and other treasures of the area. The museum is open year-round at 565 Park Street, one block from the downtown.

Horseback Riding

Experience the Rocky Mountains in the saddle. Several local Meeker stables provide trail rides through the wilderness for novice or experienced riders.

Mountain Biking

Zip and zag through the mountain bike flow course at the Philip and Dorcas Jensen Memorial Park. The park is located in Meeker at the north end of 7th Street and through the Sanderson Hills Park.

Golfing

Tee off at the challenging and picturesque 9-hole local Meeker Golf Course at 903 County Road 13.
